OUR HOME is situated on beautiful Whidbey Island, WA (USA), ideally located on the south end on Useless Bay, and within easy accessibility to all the many attractions (further information in tabs above) and natural beauties of both urban and rural Pacific Northwest. In addition to Seattle WA, Portland OR, Vancouver BC and Victoria BC, the stunning San Juan Islands are very close as are three national parks (within easy driving distance) and even wonderful wine country (Walla Walla, WA) on the east side of the state. Whidbey Island is a destination vacation, recently voted one of the top 10 to visit by LIFE magazine.Our home is @ 2,300 sq. ft. and has a master bedroom (king size bed and and flat screen TV) with en suite bathroom, guest quarters with queen size bed and en suite bathroom (to include a small kitchenette) and a third guest bedroom room with two twin beds. In addition there is a TV/den room with a single bed (with a large flat screen TV, plus blue-ray DVD player and access through our wifi to numerous streaming movie channels) allowing us to sleep 7 very comfortably.
We love to cook and enjoy good wine (the soul of spending shared time with family and friends) so our kitchen reflects this; it is well equipped with top of the line appliances and all the cooking essentials. There is a walk-in pantry off the kitchen, and an adjunct room (we call it the 'Bodega') with additional storage and another refrigerator. The living room and dining room are open to the kitchen area, which allows comfortable social interaction between host(s) and guests. A small intimate room off the dining room is ideal for listening to music from our respectable collection (both vinyl and CD) and/or to sit quietly reading or gazing at that spectacular view.
Our outdoor deck spans the entire length of the house (a west view toward the bay and the majestic Olympic Mountains), and has several different seating areas as well as an outdoor table for dining. There is a gas (propane) BBQ, a bar, built in serving side boards, a fountain, umbrellas, and 2 big comfy seats off the master bedroom. All of this overlooks gardens crammed full of plants, to include roses, annual grasses and many spring bulbs and summer/fall blooming perennials. The yard is fully fenced.
The entire house is WIFI accessible.
Our community swimming pool is within eye sight and easy walking distance, (open late May to early September) and in the summer, the bay is a great place to go walking as the tidal exchange is very extreme, so there are many hours of sandy beach to explore.
The village of Langley is 5.5 miles away (about 12 mins); a charming place with a harbor, boutiques, restaurants and services (to include a movie theater AND a performing Arts Center (WICA). A community food mart is 1 mile away. Throughout the year there are MANY special events, festivals, art tours, wineries, distilleries, and farms to visit. Whidbey Island is in the forefront of the slow food movement and hosts farmers markets (seasonal)Wednesday thru Sunday of each week.
Well behaved children and a dog are welcome if agreed upon during preliminary discussions of staying in our home, and as long as our house rules (respect for furnishings and physical property) are guaranteed. (Security deposit).
At the renters expense a weekly housekeeper can be arranged.
We have a Honda CRV/2015 we would consider loaning to guests as long as insurance issues are worked out to both parties satisfaction.
